WORCESTER City could be forced into a change of shape at Heanor Town tonight (7.45) with doubts over both regular full-backs.

Left-back Jamie Smith is suffering with illness and will be assessed with Tyler Weir, usually the man chosen to shift across, sustaining a foot injury in the 3-0 victory over Coventry United on Saturday.

City have no further injury concerns going into the trip to Derbyshire with striker Mark Danks, who notched two on his debut for Worcester Raiders on Saturday, being considered for a place in the squad.

But with worries over both sides of the backline, Snape has plenty of food for thought.

“We will have to review it before we travel but there is a possibility we will have to alter the shape,” said Snape.

“Jamie Smith has gone down with a sickness bug and we will have to monitor that in the build up to see if he is okay to play.

“Tyler has a knock on his foot from Saturday and is a doubt. It will be difficult but we have good players and expect them to adjust accordingly if needed.”

With 16 matches to fit into the final nine-and-a-half weeks of the campaign, Jordan Stoddart and Wayne Thomas could provide fresh legs with Snape confident his squad can cope.

“We will find out a bit more in this one but I am looking forward to the run in,” he added.

“One or two might be looking forward to a start, others might be looking for a rest but the dressing room was buzzing after the win on Saturday.

“Hopefully we will learn from the AFC Wulfrunians draw that we have to play for 90 minutes, which we did on Saturday.

“A bit of quality did shine through in the end, we controlled a lot of the game and enjoyed a good second half.”

Heanor sit eighth going into the clash with one of the more competitive records in the Midland Football League Premier Division, particularly of late.

Town have not been beaten in their past four league outings with only one setback in their past seven but goal scoring has been an area for concern.

Bottom-of-the-table Rocester has one more goal to show for their efforts this season from two fewer league matches.

“We know from earlier in the season that they like to pass but the pitch will also be a consideration,” said Snape.

“It has been heavy and that could be a factor as we put into place our game plan. Come what may it will be a tough game, we know they don’t give a lot away so whoever plays will have to be ready and right on it.”
