WORCESTER City’s Sam Yeomans is being readied for a fight back from his injury nightmare.

The 19-year-old University of Worcester student was blighted by ankle ligament damage sustained during City’s pre-season of 2017 throughout what many had anticipated would be his breakthrough campaign.

Unsure of the severity of his problems, Yeomans attempted a comeback in September’s League Cup defeat at Littleton before suffering a relapse shortly after.

Various tests and scans failed to pinpoint the problem but after a referral to a specialist, he played a couple of under-21 matches towards the end of last season with fresh hope he could feature next term.

“I am pleased to say Sam is 99 per cent of the way through his recovery and will be ready to go for pre-season,” said manager John Snape.

“All we want from him for the moment is to get himself fit and ready for the start of the season with a view to him being slowly integrated back into the first-team set-up.

“He came through the youth system as a local lad and did so because of his determination and application.

“I love his passion for playing Worcester City, it means a lot to him and his return means a lot to us as well.

“He is highly rated as a player and well thought of as a lad. We are looking forward to helping him to get going again.”
