MANAGER Carl Heeley has urged fans to keep faith with his Worcester City team as they seek to rediscover their winning formula at St George’s Lane.

City have only won one of their last nine Blue Square Bet North matches at headquarters and were booed off by a small minority of supporters at half-time during last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Histon.

However, they produced a fine display to triumph 2-0 at Droylsden on Tuesday and Heeley is convinced they can replicate that when Vauxhall Motors visit.

“We get good crowds at home but it’s vitally important our supporters come and help us, get vocal and get behind the team,” he said.

“Don’t let St George’s Lane become a place where we don’t want to play.

“Just because we haven’t had the right results, they need to get behind us and stay positive.

“We’re obviously disappointed with our home form of late but I think there is a performance around the corner there.

“All I can ask is for the lads to apply themselves correctly. They know they didn’t do that in the first-half last Saturday but they showed their character on Tuesday because Droylsden was a tricky one and we could have ended up with back-to-back defeats.

“However, it never looked like that and we’re all positive again ahead of the game against Vauxhall Motors. It’s another great opportunity and something to build on.”

Worcester, though, will again be without Tyler Weir as the right-back continues to undergo tests following his facial injury.

The former Hereford United player, replaced by Jacob Rowe in the last two matches, is thought to have blacked out last month when leaving a gym, causing him to fall and damage teeth.

Heeley added: “Tyler has had to go into hospital and have some tests, they are concerned the injury is a little bit worse so we need to look at that closely.

“But his health is massively important and much more important than a game of football. We won’t risk him.

“Jacob is a centre-half but he’s done a solid job there. He’s different to Tyler, he’s big and strong and he was superb against Droylsden.”

Defender Shabir Khan, who was on the bench in mid-week, is away on international duty with Pakistan.

Vauxhall Motors come into tomorrow’s game having not played in the league since January 12 when they drew 2-2 with Bishop’s Stortford.

They beat Hyde 2-0 in the Cheshire Senior Cup last Tuesday.
