Glover at the double as City draw

DANNY Glover got both goals as Worcester City twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Vauxhall Motors.

Glover struck in each half to restore parity in an entertaining game at St George's Lane.

Ashley Stott fired the visitors into a deserved ninth-minute lead before, in the 28th minute, Greg Mills set Glover free down the middle and he rounded keeper Zac Jones to equalise from a tight angle.

Stott had a penalty saved by Glyn Thompson three minutes into the second-half but restored his side's lead in the 66th-minute, pouncing on a loose Stuart Whitehead defensive header.

Worcester threw everything at the Motormen in the closing stages and earned a point when Rob Elvins squared for Glover to blast home.

Midfielder Greg Mills, who went off with a hamstring injury, said the result was tough to take for the players.

He said: "We're all disappointed. Especially after the Histon game, we wanted to win because we let ourselves down. We had a good performance at Droylsden, possibly the best of the season, but we never really got going today. We should have done better and we all know that.

"It's much better than no points, we'd much rather take a draw than a loss but if we were at it and been as good as we know we can be we could have had a field day against them."

Where Greg Mills gets that if the City had been on form they would have had a field day beats me.
First half slow out of the blocks again and high balls hoofed up field to Mike Taylor who had no chance of picking up the early ball, whats gone wrong with playing it on the ground?.
Vauxhall Motors were quicker to the ball and snuffed out any City threat by close man marking, there were times I thought they had 12 players on the pitch.
We have got to be honest we would have lost again if the penalty had gone in. It seems we have lost our way at home with no plan at present to put it right. It was a good thing we had a good start to the season otherwise we would have now been below half way.Must again salute my fellow supporters who turned up on a bitterly cold day and having to watch football that did not give one a warm and satisfying feeling.I think that Carl Heeley needs to get round some players and mark his authority on how it should be played because I fear some of them are not reading the same script.
Agree with C the C well done Danny Glover.
