DANIEL Nti’s future could lie away from Worcester City with the top-scorer attracting interest from Nuneaton Town.

The 21-year-old, who bagged 16 goals in his debut campaign for the club last season, is on trial with the Conference Premier outfit and played in their 2-1 defeat to Derby County at Liberty Way on Tuesday.

Nti has been offered a new deal by the Blue and Whites, meaning they would be able to claim compensation should he move on as he is under 24.

Nuneaton are looking to replace Louis Moult, who has joined Wrexham after scoring 17 goals last term.

It is thought Nti is keen to go full-time having completed his studies at Loughborough University, from where he joined City last summer, and he could feature for Nuneaton again on Saturday at Barwell.

Although Worcester would not stand in his way, keeping hold of Nti remains a priority as they seek to build on the momentum of the second half of last season.

Manager Carl Heeley has already moved to strengthen the attack with Mike Symons, while 12-goal Ethan Moore and Aaron Williams are both expected to stay having been offered new deals.

Meanwhile, Jacob Rowe is training with City and could rejoin the club he left last summer.

The central defender, who made 31 appearances during the 2012-13 campaign, moved to Bournemouth last summer as part of a university course and joined Poole Town in the Southern League.

Worcester already have Wayne Thomas and Graham Hutchison in that position but Rowe would provide strength in depth, along with Shabir Khan.

Shabir was due to have surgery this week to cure his ongoing groin problem but should be back training in around a month.

Another player on City’s radar is former England schoolboy international Connor Gater.

The 21-year-old utility player has represented his country at under 18s level and is impressing on trial.

Gater, who can operate in midfield but also at left-back and centre-half, could feature in City’s friendly double-header against Birmingham City and Coventry Sphinx this Saturday.

He had a spell with Tipton Town last season, having previously been at Gornal Athletic following time out through injury.

Gater was part of the Gornal team beaten 4-0 by City in the FA Cup second qualifying round last September.
