DANIEL Nti is determined to make himself one of the first names on manager Carl Heeley’s team sheet after returning to the goals trail in style.

The 21-year-old, who had not scored since the 3-0 FA Trophy win at Telford last month, or for six matches in the league, struck both goals in the 2-1 victory over Histon last Saturday.

His double also marked only his second start since December 8 following a run of substitute appearances for the Blue and Whites.

Although Nti has 21 starts to his name this term, he has struggled to hold down a regular place of late, with Ethan Moore and Danny Glover getting the nod up front.

But now Glover has joined Bradford Park Avenue, Nti is ready to grasp the nettle and step up to the plate with more goals.

The former Loughborough University striker has eight in total, two behind top-scorer Moore’s 10, although both have six in Skrill North.

“I am confident of getting a few more. I believe that I can score in this league and Ethan can too so hopefully we can continue to do that,” Nti said.

“Danny was a great player and had a lot of experience and I was able to learn from him.

“I am not glad he’s left because he was a good asset to the club but it might free an opportunity to step into his role.

“I have been at the club since the start of the season but it takes a while to settle.

“The manager has given me a chance and I’ve taken it — hopefully I can continue to score.

“Every minute I get I will do my best to score but I am happy the manager gave me a start and hopefully I have shown him what I can do.”

Nti broke the deadlock at Histon after just three minutes before adding a second after the break to give Worcester only their fourth league win of the season.

“The game against Bradford didn’t go the way we wanted, so it was good to bounce back and get the three points,” he added.

“Scoring early on is a good situation for myself because it gives you confidence but also for the team knowing you have got something to defend.

“I think the win was a turning point and bringing in three new signings helps strengthen the squad.

“I thought we had a great squad anyway but they have helped fill in the cracks and hopefully we can build on that.

“We want to win as many games as we can and better our league position.”
