PERSHORE High School student Ed Surman proved he could really put his back into his favourite sport, when he came second in the English Indoor Rowing Championship in Manchester.
Year nine student Surman saw the event advertised on the internet and thought he could put his rowing skills to good use.
He will now take part in the West Midland trials for single sculls, held on the River Severn in Worcester, next month.
