EVESHAM'S Simon Andrews is planning to dispense with the excuses on Sunday at Brands Hatch and finally make his mark on the Bennett's British Superbikes.
Mechanical disappointments at Thruxton, coupled with his first crash of the season at Oulton Park, has left Andrews way off the pace in the 2008 BBS standings, with Shane Byrne comfortably leading.
The 24-year-old Jentin Yamaha rider was a victim of the wet conditions at Oulton Park last weekend but, with sunshine set to engulf Brands Hatch, Andrews is desperate to make up for lost time.

He said: "It is my time to step up now and, if I don't, then I won't have any excuses. It will be down to me.
"We are learning from each race but I am really confident that I have a third or fourth place finish in the bag.
"I don't know how it is going to happen and I am not thinking about the podium just yet - I just want to get some points and go from there.
"It would be great to finish behind the Ducati or Honda lads or even maybe get among them considering we are more like a privateer side at the moment.
"But the second half of the season will be important and I think that is when we will really try and push and commit things forward."
Andrews admitted his bike was far from the finished article at present with clutch problems having haunted his stop-start charge to date.
But, with further testing scheduled ahead of Brands Hatch and lessons being learnt each weekend, Andrews is in confident mood.
He added: "We have got to start getting big points in the big races and we have already qualified on the second row for Brands so hopefully we can do something from there."
