FA Trophy cash saga is nearing end for Harriers

KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' wait to get their hands on their share of money from last year's FA Trophy final looks to have reached a conclusion - 12 months after they played the first match at the new Wembley.

The Aggborough club have been in dispute with the Football Association since last year's final, which Harriers lost 3-2 against Stevenage Borough, over their cut of ticket sales.

The disagreement occured when Wembley Stadium, owned by the FA, asked for a bigger sum of money to cover the cost of hospitality at last May's game.

Harriers have had the money in a high interest account while both parties wrangle.

The club even teamed up with Stevenage to demand a face-to-face meeting to bring about a conclusion.

The saga has dragged on for so long that today sees Ebbsfleet United and Torquay United go head-to-head under the famous arch to contest the 2008 final.

However, the Blue Square Premier club have now sent the FA a cheque paying for the hospitality and chairman Barry Norgrove is waiting for them to give Harriers the green light so they can draw a line under the issue.

Norgrove said: "We have done what the FA have asked and now we consider the matter closed until we hear back from them."

The FA requested both clubs send a cheque based on numbers given before the game.
