RECENT Lady Dudley Cup winner Cottage River was defeated in the Mixed Open at the Wheatland Hunt point-to-point.
A large crowd at Chaddesley Corbett saw River beaten by the only other runner in the race, Itsalf.
Sent off as the heavily odds-on favourite, it was apparent River and rider David Mansell were never really going as easily on the firm going as Itsalf.
When Mark Wall increased the pace at the fourth-from-last fence, the favourite began to struggle even more.
Itsalf drew clear and River was pulled up between the last two fences.
The veteran 17-year-old Jemaro repeated his victory of last year in the concluding Members race when partnered by Immy Robinson, daughter of trainer Caroline Robinson and grand-daughter of owner Jeremy Beasley.
