Wolves aiming to end their Scottish jinx

WORCESTER Wolves will be aiming for their first victory in eight attempts against Scottish Rocks as they look to maintain their push for the play-offs at the University of Worcester tonight (7pm tip-off).

Having won twice last weekend, Skouson Harker's much-improved squad of players will be wanting to maintain the form which has propelled them up the British Basket-ball League table.

Wolves, however, do not have a good record against Ster-ling Davies' team, having lost all four games last year and three matches this term.

"We owe them one," Harker said. "I've started to wonder if we can beat them as they seem to have our number.

"Davis is the key for them, he steps up in all the big games, but Wohlers can also hurt you from anywhere on the floor. He's not the most athletic player in the league, but he's one of the most effective.

"They're well balanced, and they know their roles very well. They're not the deepest team in the league, and they are probably one solid player away from being a top side."

Despite their fine record against the Wolves, Rocks' player-coach Davis won't be taking the in-form Wolves lightly.

"They are playing really well at the moment, and they aren't the same team we saw last time," said Davies. "We need to understand that they are focused and play as a team now. But it's a good opportunity for us to win a basketball game. We need to stop James Life and Anthony Paez as they are their key guys scoring-wise."

Davies goes into the game sweating on the fitness of forward Gareth Murray, who missed the recent defeat against Guildford with a sprained ankle.
