WORCESTER Wolves play the first part of their weekend double-header tonight when they travel to Knowsley Leisure Centre, home of the Mersey Tigers (7.30pm).

The Tigers have lost their first four British Basketball League games, while Wolves will look to get their title hopes back on track after a 79-61 loss at Leicester Riders on Saturday.

The two sides have already met this season with mid-table Wolves easing to a 98-48 win a fortnight ago, with Alex Owumi top-scoring with 19 points in 18 minutes.

Worcester coach Paul James said: “Tigers work really hard with what they have. I believe they are looking to strengthen their squad after having underestimated the level of competition in the BBL.”

Tigers’ coach Tony Walsh added: “Wolves’ position in the league at present isn’t a true reflection of this team’s ability, with players who can entertain while working hard on defence and offence.

“Owumi, Calvin Mourant-Hudson and Arturas Masiulls have shown they have a lot to offer.”

Wolves complete their weekend’s action with a visit from Sheffield Sharks to the University of Worcester tomorrow (7pm).
