WORCESTER Wolves have received a second major boost in the space of a week by securing the services of small forward Kai Williams.

The 24-year-old former Cheshire Jets player has been snapped up by the British Basketball League club following the release of Stuart Thomson.

He could be available to face Newcastle Eagles at the University of Worcester on Saturday (7pm) if he gets clearance from the Cyprus Basketball Federation, having started this season with Apollon Limassol.

His arrival comes just days after American point guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue jetted in having missed the season to date due to a visa delay.

Director of basketball Paul James said: “I looked at Kai in the summer and we have been following his progress. He became available but we weren’t able to get him so the next time he was available we got the deal done very quickly.

“We are delighted to have him here and hopefully he will have as big an impact as Prezzie.”

Williams, who stands 6ft 6ins, spent last season with the Jets, playing in the team that defeated Wolves in the play-offs.

The Canadian, who has a British passport, averaged 14 points with six rebounds and two assists per game.
