VICTORY over Newcastle Eagles was huge for Worcester Wolves — people need to come out and see this team because it’s going to be better than last year.

I can’t describe how massive last Saturday’s 88-73 win was.

I knew we would compete with them but I thought it would take us a game or two to be where I want us to be.

But we just switched on and new signing Kai Williams gave us that X-factor which they didn’t expect.

Newcastle are the most successful team this country has ever seen and we have both competed with them and beaten them.

The mood in the camp has changed since the return of Sherrad Prezzie-Blue.

There was almost a bit of relief that our on-court leader had arrived so the mood was very good and to go out and play the way we did was fantastic to see.

It was a brilliant performance at both ends of the floor and we look like we are going to be the team that I expected from the start of the season.

The team chemistry is back to where I want it to be, we’re having a lot of fun and the guys are working extremely hard for each other.

They know we’ve lost some ground but we’re going to try and make up for lost time now.

Sherrad kept himself in pretty good shape while he was waiting to come over. He knows the system inside out and we communicated weekly on Skype so I knew he’d slot straight back into things and he’s done a fantastic job for us.

Having Kai was like the icing on the cake because he’s a quality player.

He got 20 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes of basketball so if he can do that continually for us off the bench we are going to be a very tough team to beat.

It was also fantastic to see Arturas Masiulis named in the BBL team of the week for his efforts against Newcastle.

That’s the difference a true point guard can make.

Arturas is now catching the ball and putting it in the basket, whereas before he was getting the ball too far away from the basket and having to dribble it a few times and sometimes fumbling.

I think we are now going to see the true Arturas because Sherrad can feed him the ball where he can be most effective with it.

We now have a break before we host Glasgow Rocks on Saturday, December 22, so we will be keeping things fresh and doing some fun things on the court to keep the team spirit and chemistry going.

Following a good week of practice, the players will probably get the weekend off and then we’ll come back next week and really focus on what we’ve got to do against Glasgow.

It also gives some of the guys chance to nurse any niggling injuries they might have and allows us to re-emphasise our philosophy to everybody and refocus on what we want to do for the rest of the season.
