NOTHING less than maximum points will do from Worcester Wolves’ home British Basketball League double-header, says head coach Paul James.

In an unprecedented scenario of back-to-back home games, Wolves host both Mersey Tigers and London Lions within 24 hours of each other at the University of Worcester.

The Tigers are in town tonight (7.30pm), while the rearranged Lions clash, postponed last month because of the weather, takes place tomorrow at 7pm.

With both teams below them in the table, James wants his sixth-placed side to take advantage by building on the momentum gained from winning 94-88 at Newcastle Eagles in the BBL Trophy last Friday.

They will be looking to inflict a 23rd straight defeat on the Tigers, bottom of the table without a point, and set the record straight against London after losing 94-76 at Crystal Palace in November.

James said: “There are four points to be had and I’m demanding four points from the team.

“We’ve got to forget about what’s gone beforehand against Newcastle but we don’t want to ruin things by not showing up this weekend.

“Hopefully, we can take care of business early on against Mersey and rest some of our players.

“London will be very tough because they are quick, athletic and aggressive and we’ve got to do a better job than we did when we played them on Sky Sports a couple of months back.”

Worcester, however, will be without point guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue after he sustained a recurrence of his knee injury in the Newcastle victory.

“We’ve got to tread carefully with him just to make sure he’s more than 85 per cent fit like he was last Friday,” James said. “He played his part but he’s unfortunately injured his knee again. It’s not as bad as it was before but I think we’ll probably rest him this weekend.”

Wolves are offering discounted admission for fans attending both matches and James is hoping the university sports hall will be packed to the rafters each night.

He added: “We have put out a special deal to try and encourage people to come to both games. We are playing really well now and we’d like the community to get behind us in all competitions.

“We’ve been tough to beat at home and our fans have had something to do with that so it would be nice to think that in both games we will have a big crowd.”
