WORCESTER Wolves are aiming to string a run of victories together as they bid to stay among the British Basketball League pacesetters.

Wolves have won three of their first four games this season, including 82-68 against Surrey United last Friday, and head to bottom-of-the-table Leeds Force tonight (7.30pm).

With three consecutive home matches to come against Bristol Flyers in the BBL Cup and London Lions and Manchester Giants in the league, director of basketball Paul James is looking for Wolves to gather some momentum.

He said: “We want to go on a run of games if we can. We feel that we’ve got the opportunity to do that with the way the fixtures are falling at the moment and if we can do that it all builds confidence within the team.”

Leeds are new to the league this season and have lost all four of their matches to date, although they did beat Manchester Giants 80-69 in the cup earlier this month.

“They’ve proven that they can beat an established BBL outfit so we are not going to take them lightly whatsoever,” James added.

“They will be a tough team to play on their floor, they will be well drilled and play a hard 40 minutes.

“They’ve brought in a couple of decent players this year and they are a team that play extremely hard and if we don’t go up there in the right frame of mind it’s going to be a long night for us.”

Wolves guard Disraeli Lufadeju added: “We are expecting Leeds to be very aggressive because they are still trying to prove to the league they are competitive.”

Leeds have also been disrupted with British centre Zak Wells leaving the club after suffering a knee injury.
