WORCESTER Wolves host Sheffield Sharks tonight (7.30pm) as they aim to continue their superb home form in the British Basketball League.

Wolves have won eight of their nine league matches at the University Arena this season and have only lost twice at the Hylton Road venue in all competitions.

Tonight’s clash is the first of three consecutive Friday night league matches at the arena, with Surrey United and Bristol Flyers to come.

Head coach Paul James, whose side are second in the table behind Newcastle Eagles, has underlined the importance of continuing their home dominance.

He said: “If you’re going to be up their challenging you’ve got to win your home games at least and make your home court a fortress and hopefully pick off one or two on the road.

“If you’re not going to win your home games in front of your own fans and on a court you’re familiar with then you’re going to struggle.

“We set out to make our home court a fortress and our supporters have got a part to play in that with being vocal and intimidating the opposition a little bit. It would be great to have a full house for all three of those games.

“These home matches are massive for us and are games that we have to win. They are three very winnable games but we’ve got to carry on doing our homework.

“We can’t take anybody lightly, we’ve got to respect our opposition and treat them as if we are playing Newcastle or Leicester.”

Wolves won 78-76 when the sides met at the English Institute of Sport in November, while they also got the better of Sheffield in the BBL Trophy semi-finals last season.

Sheffield edged Manchester Giants 79-76 in the Trophy last 16 to record their first victory of 2015, ending a run of three straight defeats.
