NEW signing Josh Cameron is poised to make his Worcester Wolves debut in tomorrow’s British Basketball League clash at lowly Sheffield Sharks (3pm).

In-form Wolves have strengthened their hand with the signing of the American guard, a member of the NBA Summer League team of the Memphis Grizzles.

Wolves forward Ben Eaves could make his 100th league appearance in the match.

Wolves are third in the division with five wins from their last six matches, while Sharks have made a slow starting, claiming their first league triumph in Glasgow last weekend.

Wolves cruised to a 92-65 win against Leeds Force, with Jay Couisnard leading the scores with 22 and Eaves impressing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

For the second week in a row, Ashton Khan and Javier Mugica put forward strong displays, tallying 16 and 14 points respectively.

Wolves guard Khan admits Sharks’ poor start to the season does not disguise their potency.

“The Sharks are a strong club regardless of their slow start this season,” he said.

“They have good players and are capable of beating any team, and we know that.

“We expect them to be aggressive and play hard and we want to be the ones to control the game from the start.

He added: “We are going to need to focus in on their key players and take them out of their game early.

“We will watch film and become aware of who their threats are and what they like to do on the court.

"Coach PJ (Paul James) will provide a great game plan to follow and we will have to execute that in order to win this important game.”

Wolves secured a 87-65 home win when the clubs last met, in the league at the University of Worcester Arena, in February.

But two of the last three meetings between the teams have been decided by three points or fewer.

Sharks, who were due to host Cheshire Phoenix last night, top the league in offensive rebounding, with 13.25 per game.

They sealed a 90-62 win at Glasgow Rocks last Sunday.

Sharks guard Mike Cook: “It was a great win for us against Glasgow. We've been through a lot to start this season off so we knew it would be a tough start. It was definitely a mental boost.

“I haven't seen much of Worcester, it's all about us, though.

"If we do what we are supposed to do on offence and defence we will be a tough team to beat going forward.”

Khan, a graduate of Tiffin University in the USA, holds both Canadian and British passports and has settled into life at Wolves after signing in the summer.

"I am enjoying the city and the support from the fans,” he said.

“Our early success in the season has been based on following the game plan that coach PJ (Paul James) provides for us.

“We have some players that have played in this league before and know what it takes to be successful.

“We play for each other and for the Wolves, not individually, and I feel that plays a role in our early success so far.”
