ORLAN Jackman says Worcester Wolves will throw everything they have got at Manchester Giants tonight as they bid to end their three-match losing streak (7.30pm).

Since last Friday, Worcester have lost to Sheffield Sharks and London Lions in the British Basketball League and been knocked out of the BBL Trophy semi-finals by Newcastle Eagles.

Forward Jackman, who featured in all three games, said the players were disappointed with the way they had performed.

But, with Manchester struggling at the foot of the table, the 27-year-old Londoner said it was important Wolves put on a show at the University of Worcester Arena.

“Losing three games in quick succession wasn’t good but we want to bounce back in style tonight,” he said.

“We have definitely been surprised as we have not been playing great basketball, which people don’t expect from us.

“When it happens, you can try and brush it off but three (bad performances) in a row is tough.

“We have had two or three days to recover, which should be enough, so we want to get back to winning ways against Manchester.”

When the two sides met in Manchester earlier this month, Giants pushed Wolves hard before a strong final period saw Paul James’ men triumph 79-74 Jackman, who has made 15 appearances for Wolves since arriving in December, admitted it had been a tough period for the club.

However, with the prospect of a one-week break after tackling Manchester, he said his side were determined to finish the congested spell of games on a high.

“It has been very physically demanding and when you are running up and down for 40 minutes it can take its toll,” he said.

“After this one, our next game is in two weeks, so we have got to give it 110 per cent against Manchester and then we can recover from these five games in 11 days.

“Manchester ran us close last time and if we don’t give it our all it will be close again.

“We need a great start and then to maintain our level throughout the game.”

Giants player Ingus Bankevics said: “We are training hard to really focus on our game in defence and offence.

“We have been working on our second help in defence, which sometimes we struggle with, and boxing out.

“I think in the last game (against Worcester) we played really well. But when we watched the video, there were a lot of things that we can do better. Our zone defence was really bad at times.

“We need to box out more because they got rebounds and scored easy baskets. We need to stop that. And no turnovers because they score a lot of baskets after our mistakes.”
