WORCESTER Wolves have captured talented point guard Jordan Aaron and head coach Paul James hopes he can give his side a much-needed boost ahead of British Basketball League play-offs.

Aaron, 23, has a reputation as a versatile, scoring playmaker, who had an impressive campaign with CAB Madeira in Portugal last season where he averaged 16.7 points and 4.4 assists.

He played his college basketball in NCAA 1 with Milwaukee Panthers and in his final year, in the 2013 -14 season, he led the team on the court and averaged 13.9 points.

The 6ft American was also named Horizon League MVP as his team were victorious and received an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.

James said he was excited to have Aaron on board and has challenged him to step up to the plate as Wolves prepare for their trip to Leeds Force on Friday when he could make his debut.

“I’m delighted that we have been able to find a player that we feel will have a good and positive impact on the team going into the final stages of the season,” said James, whose side sit third in the table.

"I will be looking for Jordan to step up to the challenge and give us added leadership and production from the point guard position."

His arrival also comes after the departure of Josh Cameron earlier this month and managing director Mick Donovan believes the signing of Aaron, who hails from Bronx in New York, was another statement of intent.

“We have spent a great deal of time searching for the right type of player who can realistically bring something extra to our current team," Donovan said.

"This is a really exciting and challenging part of the season for everyone involved at the club and the arrival of Jordan clearly sends out a message to our fans that the season is still very much alive with the play offs approaching very soon.”

Aaron, who is in contention to face Leeds and could feature for the first time at the University of Worcester Arena on March 18 when Wolves take on Plymouth Raiders, added: "I’m thankful for the opportunity and I'm looking forward to meeting and working with everyone, can't wait to represent the Worcester Wolves."
