HEAD coach Paul James says Worcester Wolves are looking to plant another “seed of doubt” in Glasgow Rocks’ minds at the Emirates Arena tomorrow (5pm).

Wolves will lock horns with Rocks in the quarter-finals of the British Basketball League play-offs next weekend after the two sides finished the regular season in fourth and fifth respectively.

And, having already seen off Glasgow twice this season, James has urged his players to claim a clean sweep of wins against their rivals as he believes it could give them a “psychological” edge.

“We have beaten them twice this year and ironically it is a team we could play in the first round of the play-offs as well,” he said before the final places were decided last night.

“So I think both teams will be feeling each other out for the following weekend. It is a long road trip not to go up and try to win the ball game.

“We also want to get that momentum going into the play-offs and if we do face Glasgow then we want them to know we have beaten them three times this season and plant a seed of doubt in their minds.

“It could give us a psychological advantage, so we have got to go up there and make sure we get the job done.”

The match in Glasgow will wrap up the regular season and James is confident his side are in good shape ahead of the play-offs.

“I am really excited and I know the players are as well,” he said.

“We all know that if we put our minds to it we can have a very good run in the play-offs, so it is nothing to do with our physical ability as we have all that.

“It is about us being in the game mentally for 40 minutes and every player coming and doing a job.

“If they do that, we have shown in previous games, like against Newcastle Eagles, we can beat anyone in this league.

“We have got to be mentally and physically strong and be prepared for anyone we face in the play-offs.”
