FANS’ favourite Ashton Khan has agreed to stay at Worcester Wolves for a second season.

The energetic point guard made a big impact in his rookie campaign as he recorded 8.6 per points and three assists per game.

And head coach Paul James expects even more from Khan who joined Wolves from Tiffin University last year.

Khan is the first player from last season’s crop to pledge their future, with Perris Blackwell, Jay Couisnard and Orlan Jackman deciding to leave.

The Canadian is set to face stiff competition for a place in the team after Wolves recruited Marek Klassen from Leeds Force.

But James is confident Khan will be able to respond to the challenge.

"Ashton is an important part of what we are building this season,” said James, who has also signed Deondre McWhorter, Trevor Setty, Danny Huffor and Jermel Kennedy this summer.

“He will have a season under his belt and I expect even better things from him in the future.

“He is a very exciting guard and will have a great deal more to offer during this campaign.

“Ashton has made it very clear that he is ready to fight for his court time with Marek.

“However, I can also see them playing together on the court at the same time, which is a very exciting proposition for us and will offer even more options.”

Khan was a huge crowd favourite with the Wolves faithful and he said he was relishing the chance to play at the University of Worcester Arena again.

“I am so excited and happy to be a part of the Worcester Wolves again,” he said.

“After a successful rookie season under coach James, I'm looking forward to working with him again and improving upon last season's performances and results.

“We have great pieces in place for this upcoming season and I look forward to meeting everyone and being a vocal leader as a returning player.

“I can't wait to see the Wolfpack again and play inside the Arena. I look forward to returning to Worcester and going to work.

“We have amazing fans, the best in the BBL.

“I hope they are just as excited as I am."
