ANDREW Bachman will need to “show something very special” to break back into the Worcester Wolves side, admits head coach Paul James.

The 6ft 6in small forward has returned to full training this week as he continues to make progress with his recovery from a calf injury.

James said the 24-year-old’s comeback has increased competition within the squad, insisting “nobody can afford to take a night off”.

But with Wolves on a nine-match winning streak in the British Basketball League James is happy with his in-form team.

And he has challenged Bachman, who has made 19 appearances this season, to prove he is worthy of court-time.

“This is his first full week back in training,” said James whose side visit Plymouth Raiders on Sunday (4pm).

“There is a difference from being in the gym to being out there in full contact so we will see how his calf has reacted to that.

“It is good to have him out there and we will have to gradually bring him back into the rotation when we can.

“But we are playing really well so he is going to have to show something very special in training to then start warranting minutes.

“But he is prepared to work hard for that and it is another great situation for us to be in because it makes training very competitive with players playing for court-time.

“There is no slacking and nobody can afford to take a night off in practice and they are working really hard.”
