HEAD coach Paul James reckons Worcester Wolves will have a fight on their hands to reach the BBL Trophy final as a fired-up Sheffield Sharks side arrive at the University of Worcester Arena on Wednesday night (7.30pm).

James is hoping for a repeat of Wolves’ semi-final success over Sheffield in the BBL Cup in December when they won 173-157 on aggregate.

But Worcester’s boss believes his side will be up against it as Sharks seek revenge and a final place at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow, on Sunday, March 4.

And James insists his players cannot afford any “lapses in concentration” as they look to give themselves a lead going into the second leg at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on Sunday (4pm).

“It is quite unusual to come up against Sheffield in another semi-final,” said James whose side won the BBL Trophy in 2014.

“Last time we played them it was very tough and we had to play some really solid basketball which we did and hopefully we can do that again.

“But one thing is for sure — they are going to come here and give it everything they have got as they will want to beat us really badly.

“We will have to fight and be ready to handle whatever they throw at us in the right way.

“We will need to show composure, stick to our game plan and ensure we are still in the tie for the second leg on Sunday.”

Wolves bounced back from their defeats to Cheshire Phoenix and Leicester Riders with a 101-76 win at bottom club Leeds Force last Sunday.

“We have been playing really well in spurts but still have those moments where there is a lapse in concentration,” James said.

“Right now we are a good team but once we cut out those lapses in concentration in key moments in games we will be a really good team.

“That’s what we have been working on.

“We have to make sure everybody does the job they have been given and not try to do anybody else’s job or overplay.”

Wolves could be boosted by the return of 7ft centre Dallin Bachynski who has been struggling with a sore Achilles tendon.

The 26-year-old was ruled out of Wolves’ loss to Leicester and victory at Leeds through injury but is set to have a late fitness ahead of the Sharks clash.

“Hopefully Dallin will be able to play some part in the game,” James added.

“But it will be a bit of a waiting game.

“He did some light training so we are hopeful but light training compared to a full-blown battle of a game is different so we will see.”

If Wolves get through they will play the winner of London Lions and Leicester in the final.

Meanwhile, guard Brandon Parrish earned a place in the BBL All-Star Five for the second time this season.

He registered 27 points, four steals, four rebounds and two assists in a stunning showing against Leeds.
