WORCESTER Wolves have added American small forward Jamaal Caterina to their roster ahead of the British Basketball League season.
Head coach Skouson Harker revealed that six-foot six-inch Caterina will be Wolves’ final import signing, but the club may still add some domestic players to their squad.
Caterina spent last season at NCAA Division Three school Southern Maine, where he led the team in scoring (18 points-per-game), rebounding (9.4 rebounds-per-game) and free throw percentage (83 per cent).
Harker said: “Jamaal is athletic and will be a very good BBL player. He is a great ball-handler and can hurt you from anywhere on the court.
“Our system will allow Jamaal to continue to play his style of ball. For a player to be confident and productive, they need to be comfortable.
“As a rookie, a lot will be expected of Jamaal, but we are confident he can do the job.
“Obviously we have tremendous belief in him as a BBL player. We feel he is a fantastic find and he will be a great asset to the Wolves.”
Caterina was named LEC All-Conference first team All-Maine by the coaches association as well as a New England Coaches Association All-Star.
Wolves begin their BBL campaign at the Big Storage Chester Jets on Sunday, September 28 (5.30pm tip-off).
