WORCESTER Wolves head to Milton Keynes Lions searching for a place in the British Basketball League Trophy semi-finals tonight (7.30).
Having beaten Glasgow Rocks 90-75 on Saturday, the University of Worcester-based side will be full of confidence at Milton Keynes.
However, their hosts are on a run of five consecutive victories and lie third in the BBL table.
But Wolves head coach Paul James believes the battle between his guard Rod Middleton and counterpart EJ Harrison is key to success.
“Both are quality guards,” James said. “They both make their teams tick and whoever controls that battle has a good chance of winning.
“Milton Keynes do go into this match as favourites but I don’t mind that because this is a one-off game and all the guys are fired up.
“It is going to be a really tough game though. Lions are probably the most experienced side in the league.
“They have some good old heads with talented youngsters as well as Harrison.”
James was delighted with how his players performed against Rocks on Saturday and believes the Wolves were long overdue that display.
“Everything we did came off,” James said. “Before that match, we had plenty of opportunities and were starting to wonder where our next win was coming from.
“But on Saturday we managed to transform the pressure into points and hopefully that can continue.”
Wolves reached the last eight of the trophy with an 85-83 win at Plymouth Raiders, while Lions eased to a 95-73 success over Essex Pirates.
