Play-offs target in focus for Wolves

WORCESTER Wolves will be aiming to get their play-off push back on track when they host high-flying New-castle Eagles tonight (7pm) in the British Basketball Lea-gue.

The University of Worces-ter-based side slumped to a 97-90 defeat at MK Lions on Tuesday night to end their unbeaten three-match run.

Yet, despite the Eagles ly-ing in second place in the BBL, Wolves have beaten the north-east outfit at the university twice in the last three meetings in the city.

But head coach Paul James knows that his Wolves side will have to improve on their free-throwing and expects Eagles chief Fab Flournoy to have his team well organised.

“Eagles play a great style of basketball and, personally, I always look forward to playing them,” James said.

“Fab has been the most consistent and productive coach in the BBL for many years. He always produces teams that are tough to beat.

“I think as a team they don’t rely on any one player and that’s what makes them so dangerous.”

Flournoy added: “Wolves are a solid well-coached group with good size at the guard position.

“They stay in games which says a lot for their poise under pressure.”
