WORCESTER Wolves host Guildford Heat tonight (7pm) seeking to complete a clean sweep over their British Basketball League rivals.

The University of Worcester outfit have already beaten the Surrey side five times in all competitions this season and are eager for a sixth.

Wolves ended Heat’s hopes in both cup competitions, beating them 93-87 and 82-75 in the BBL Trophy and 88-77 in the BBL Cup.

In the Championship, Paul James’ side were 98-93 victors in December before handing out a 100-78 thrashing last month, both at Surrey Sports Park.

Despite their impressive record, however, head coach James isn’t about to take his former club lightly.

He said: “We have managed to get the better of the Heat this season, but in every game we have had to be at our best. They have a lot of talent in the team and plenty of options to rotate through the bench. At this stage of the season you have to focus on the whole team as no one player is going to win a game on his own.”

Heat coach Creon Raftopoulos is keen to end his side’s losing run against Worcester.

“The Wolves have pretty much had our number all season. We have played them in some close games and they have just out-shot us in a couple,” he said.

“We know they’re still in the league title hunt so we expect them to be ready to give their all and defend their home court.

“With five games to go and four of them against the top four we know we have to bring our ’A’ game for the remainder of the season to hold on to our play-off spot.”
