FRIDAY’S British Basketball League match between leaders Worcester Wolves and Glasgow Rocks (7.30pm) will go ahead despite the floods.

With access to the University of Worcester Arena currently restricted due to flooding on Hylton Road, the fixture will now be played at the sports centre on the St John’s campus.

It means a return to Wolves’ former home before they made the switch to the £15million arena last year.

However, fans are being urged to buy their tickets in advance as there is only capacity for 575 spectators at the sports centre compared to the arena, which can potentially hold 2,000 fans.

Pre-game ticket sales are already at the highest since Wolves, who are aiming for their 12th straight victory, hosted Leicester Riders in their first match at the venue last October.

A Wolves statement said: “The university and Wolves made the decision to relocate the game as there were some concerns about access on the roads surrounding the University of Worcester Arena.

“Wolves are currently enjoying a superb season, sitting at the top of the BBL, and a return to their old home will be a nostalgic event.”

Tickets can be purchased on-line at worcesterwolves.org and parking will be available on the St John’s campus for £1.
