WORCESTER Wolves head to Plymouth Raiders tomorrow (4pm) looking to start 2015 with their third consecutive victory.

Paul James’ side finished 2014 with back-to-back wins against Leeds Force (68-58) and Leicester Riders (86-82).

It has kept them second in the British Basketball League, four points behind leaders Newcastle Eagles but having played a game more.

Wolves will also be aiming to secure the head-to-head record against Plymouth following their 95-88 triumph in Devon at the beginning of December.

Head coach James said: “The Christmas period was always going to be tricky but we’ve managed to complete back-to-back wins.

“The win at Leicester was probably our best performance of the season and we scrapped it out against Leeds for the victory. That’s what we’ve got to do against Plymouth.

“Whether we’re on our game or not, we’ve got to find a way to win and I think we’ve done that really well this season.”

Plymouth are third-from-bottom in the table with just five wins from 16 matches but James is not expecting an easy ride.

The Wolves chief said: “I think they’re a sleeping giant because they’ve got a talented team, they just haven’t all come together at the same yet but they’ve got as much individual talent as anybody else in the British Basketball League.

“They’ve made a couple of changes to their playing squad to improve their set-up.

“They’re a scary team if they get their performance together, so we’ve got to make sure we play tough defence and hopefully our offence will be clicking.”

James added: “If we can get another win that would be fantastic.”

Centre Robert Thurman is set to return following three games out with an ankle injury.
