THE Worcester Wolves revolution will be tested for the first time when they tip off their British Basketball League campaign tomorrow night (7.30pm).

Glasgow Rocks visit the University of Worcester Arena as coach Paul James fields his new-look squad after a summer of change, which sees only guard Disraeli Lufadeju staying put.

Wolves warmed up with a 79-66 victory over Surrey Scorchers last weekend and James will add American forward Jay Couisnard to that squad after his arrival in England.

Worcester experienced disappointment last season after missing out on silverware despite the best league finish in their history of third place, failing to successfully defend their play-off title or the BBL Trophy.

James said: "I thought maybe it was time for a change and to bring in some fresh blood. It’s a bit of a gamble changing the squad but hopefully one that is going to come off.

“I am really quite excited about this bunch. The only issue is the short pre-season we had and then going into games straight away. We’re kind of flying by the seat of our pants a little bit but then everybody else is too.”

James admitted: “It’s always harder the second time around to do what we did the year before. We had lost the two best players in the league in Will Creekmore and Zaire Taylor. They were big shoes to fill.

“We didn’t quite fill them but, with what we had, third in the league was respectable.

“We had the best home record in the championship, losing just one league game, but our away form was shocking really and that cost us.”

Wolves have added more know-how with Couisnard and Pavol Losonsky part of Leicester Riders' treble-winning team in 2013.

James added: “It’s hugely important getting two players of that quality and I’m delighted our board of directors found a way to make that happen.

“Although we don’t have continuity on the team, we do now have players who have been there, seen it and done it.

“Newcastle and Leicester have pretty much got their entire teams back so they are ones to look out for but everyone else seems to have a tremendous amount of changes.

“You won’t know until about three or four weeks into the season who is gelling well and who isn’t. Hopefully, we’re going to be one of those teams up there challenging."
