WORCESTER Wolves will be aiming for their second British Basketball League win of the campaign at home to Bristol Flyers tonight (7.30pm).

A new-look Wolves overcame a few nerves to see off Glasgow Rocks 80-69 in their opening match at the University of Worcester Arena last week.

Head coach Paul James admits Wolves are still a “work Wolves looking for follow-up win over Flyers in progress” unit but hopes they can build on their second-half showing against Glasgow.

Wolves trailed 44-42 at the interval but entered the last quarter leading 60-58 before pulling away for a comfortable success.

“We gave up 44 points in the first-half against Glasgow and that was too many,” admitted James.

“In the end, we gave up 69.

"Defensively, we picked up our intensity and got some stops and we weren’t trading baskets with them and, at the same time, continued our scoring.

“It’s important we try to keep teams to mid 70s or below to give ourselves a chance to win the game.

“I think we have a team who can score 80 or more points.”

Former Leicester Riders duo Pavol Losonsky and Jay Couisnard led the way for Wolves with 20 and 19 points respectively.

“Offensively, we gave up 18 turnovers and Glasgow scored 29 points so we can improve on that,” said James.

“But we scored 27 points from the bench and that shows the depth we have in the team.”

Bristol Flyers opened up with a narrow 71-68 home defeat against Surrey Scorchers but James believes they will provide tough opposition.

“Bristol were new to the league last year and did exceptionally well, finishing eighth,” said James.

“Bristol are well drilled, have been together for a while and will be tough.”
