WORCESTER Wolves have suffered their second "freak" injury in a week after Perris Blackwell rolled his ankle in training.

The forward's injury, which is set to rule him out for three weeks, comes after Ben Eaves had an operation to repair a dislocated thumb picked up in a recent university match in Durham.

Head coach Paul James said the double injury blow had given him "sleepless nights" as he prepares his side to face fellow high-fliers Leicester Riders at the University of Worcester Arena tomorrow (7.30pm).

"In our first full training session this week in preparation for Leicester, Perris stepped on somebody's foot and rolled his ankle," he said.

"It is more severe than we first thought as he is going to be out for between two-and-a-half and three weeks.

"It is a real killer as we were just coming back to full strength. We were starting to play well and we had a nice little break, so the players had the rest they needed and then we have these freak accidents, which is disappointing."

James added: "Nobody wants to face Perris as he a bit of a monster down low. He is a player who started off a bit slowly but the more he has got used to the level of play and the officials, he has just been unstoppable, so to lose him leaves a massive hole to fill.

"But it happens and we have to find a way to deal with it."
