CAPTAIN Pavol Losonsky insists Worcester Wolves have sharpened up their act ahead of their return to British Basketball League action.

Wolves will play their first match in 13 days against ninth-placed Leeds Force at the Carnegie Sports Centre tomorrow night (7.30pm).

Having played six matches in two weeks in a congested February, Losonsky admitted the break from competitive basketball came at the “perfect time” as he revealed he had been struggling with a sickness bug.

“It has been a while since we played our last game but it was also good for us as some of us had minor injuries,” he said.

“I was sick in the last game (against Manchester). I was pretty ill and that’s why I didn’t play against London Lions.

“I got some buckets and did some good but I was struggling with energy, so it was good to get some time off to get healthy and get everybody back on the court.

“We used last week for recovery time, so now we are just getting back on it and preparing for the game against Leeds.”

Losonsky said he was pleased to get back on the practice court after struggling to fit in training around a busy fixture list.

“We can’t do anything about the schedule,” he said.

“But I would rather see games more spread out. It makes me wonder why we play so many games in such a short period of time when we have only got three games in March.

“But I think we managed to do our best last month. We won some and lost some.

“We probably needed to go back to training and work on some stuff but unfortunately we did not have that time.

“Last week was the perfect time to get everyone healthy and work on stuff.”

With eight games left before the play-offs, the Slovakian international said third-placed Wolves were determined to finish the season strongly.

“Leeds is not the toughest of openers but I know they will make it super hard for us, especially playing at home,” Losonsky said.

“Every game is important for us now. Hopefully, these eight games are going to give us some confidence and put us in the right mind-set going into the play-offs.”
