WORCESTER Wolves aim to secure their BBL Trophy semi-final place for the second successive season when they travel to Surrey Scorchers tomorrow (2pm).

And Paul James’ men will fancy their chances of seeing off Scorchers after beating them twice in the British Basketball League this term.

They won 90-82 at the University of Worcester Arena in October before claiming a bumper 103-84 home victory last week.

However, head coach James anticipates a “much closer” contest as they look to set up a last-four clash with Plymouth Raiders.

“It is a big opportunity for us,” said James whose side won the competition in 2014. They reached the semi-finals last season and lost to Newcastle Eagles.

James added: “Surrey are very good at home with a loud crowd behind them and they have managed to get some good wins there.

“It’s going to be tough. It is a one-off game and anything can happen. They are a big, physical team and have got good players in every position so no one is going to be able to have a day off.

“We have to be together as a unit to beat them and I don’t expect it to be as comfortable as it was when we played them at home.

“I think it will be much closer than that but hopefully we will come away on the right side of it.”
