WORCESTER Wolves star Richie Gordon has capped a fine December by being named the British Basketball League player-of-the-month.

The American centre enjoyed an exceptional four weeks as Wolves went joint top of the table, securing three consecutive appearances in the team-of-the-week along the way.

Gordon averaged a superb double-double with 20.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game to help Wolves rack up more December wins than any other team in the league.

They maintained their tilt at the BBL Championship with six victories during the month and Gordon was a key part of that success.

The Western Carolina graduate shot a field-goal percentage of 56.36 per cent and also produced a strong defensive effort, helping him to a creditable 2.1 steals per game.

Saving his best for his last performance of the month, Gordon recorded 29 points and 16 rebounds in the 103-92 win against Milton Keynes Lions.
