AS we approach 2013, I believe there are plenty of positives for Worcester Wolves to take into the new year.

Although things didn’t go to plan at the start of the season in September by not having all our players here, we have adapted and are well placed in the British Basketball League.

The second half of the campaign will also see us move into the Worcester Arena so the future is looking bright for the club.

Looking back over the past few months, there was a lot of frustration in the early part of the season because of the work permit problems with Sherrad Prezzie-Blue.

However, we knew that when he arrived, plus the additions of Alex Owumi, Stan Ocitti and Arturas Masiulis, and more latterly Kai Williams, that we were going to be a very competitive team. I think that’s going to be the case as we move forward.

Considering the initial setbacks, we managed to win some games and keep ourselves in the hunt to finish potentially as high as we did last year, if not higher if teams slip up.

I am really pleased with where we are at the moment and I think we’ve adapted well.

Having papered over some of the cracks, we can now start playing the way I want us to play and hopefully that’s going to be fruitful for us.

We made the best of what we had, which I think shows a lot of character from the players, some of whom played out of position and in areas where they were out of their comfort zone.

We did what we had to do and now we’re going to be a total team in the second half of the season.

However, we’ve got to forget about the start and think about winning most of the games we’ve got left and see where we finish in the table.

If we can finish in the top four in 2013 I think it would be a fantastic achievement yet again.

One of the things I wanted to do when I got here was to make sure Wolves made the play-offs year on year.

Last season we set the bar really high by finishing third in the league so I’d like to think that we can make a push for at least the fourth spot this time around.

Moving into the new arena is also very exciting so it’s extremely important that we go into that venue with some momentum, winning some games and giving ourselves a chance to get to the finals.

There is another opportunity to move a step closer to that tomorrow when we host Plymouth Raiders in the last eight of the BBL Trophy (7.30pm).

Hopefully we can finish off this season very strongly and then have a full season in the new arena.

After that, we will be doing our very best to make sure we’ve got an even better team than we have this year.
