I’M really pleased with the progress being made by Worcester Wolves — we’re heading in the right direction and competing with the big boys in the league.

After 11 games, we have played the top two teams in Newcastle Eagles and Leicester Riders four times and we’re three and one against them.

I like our position better than theirs because they are yet to play each other, whereas we don’t see Newcastle until February and Leicester until April.

Between now and then if we can take care of our business, focus and win the games I feel we’re supposed to win, when we play them again they could be league deciders.

We have got a lot to smile about at the moment but we’ll keep our feet on the floor. I’m quite excited about the next few weeks.

With that in mind, our training schedule has changed slightly to mix things up a bit and keep people on their toes so we don’t get comfortable.

We are doing a few more early morning sessions and trying to be together as a team more. Quite often when we train during the day, those who study are in lectures and we might not have the full complement of 14.

I want to try and get everybody together a bit more now as we move on to the next stage of the season. There are more things I want to implement and I need to have more people there to get that done.

Teams are now alive to Will Creekmore so it’s more difficult to get him into a position where he’s going to be effective so we’re going to look at that.

Some of the younger players had a great experience at Newcastle and I’m going to try and get them into games more.

It was definitely a missed opportunity at Newcastle last Friday because, going into the fourth quarter, we were 10 points up and playing really well.

Even when Zaire Taylor fouled out in the fourth I still felt we had enough in us to get it done.

The opportunity was there in regulation time because we had the lead and we just made a couple of bad choices in the last minute which allowed them to tie the game.

In overtime, there was only one team in it because we didn’t have Zaire on the court running the show.

But there were still plenty of positives to take from the match. Newcastle needed overtime to win the game and had to make two tough shots from the free-throw line to force the extra minutes.

We were away from home, more than competed and made it tough for a team who are going to be there or thereabouts with us at the end of the season.
