FEBRUARY is set to be a pivotal month in the race for the British Basketball League title.

Many of the leading contenders, such as ourselves, Leicester Riders, Newcastle Eagles and Sheffield Sharks, are due to play each other over the next weeks.

It's going to be a tough month for everybody and I can't see anybody going undefeated.

Come the end of February, things will be a little bit clearer. Hopefully we can keep our focus and play the way we have been and keep picking up the wins. If we do that we'll still be in thick of it at the end.

Although we have only had three games in January, we managed to come through them, beating Cheshire Phoenix, Durham Wildcats and Manchester Giants.

Last Friday's 89-85 over-time triumph against Cheshire was a massive win and we won't really know the importance of it until the end of the season.

They put us to the sword and we had to pull everything out of the bag to get the win so it was an absolutely huge two points for us.

Although it was exciting for the fans, I don't think I enjoy those kind of games, it was more a sense of relief at the end.

I was a bit frustrated in the fact our offence didn't click as well as it could do but the one thing we have done this year is play defence. If you can do that you are always going to keep yourself in the game.

We made a couple of big shots down the stretch which we desperately needed and that was a telling factor in the end.

We have shown that we can win in many different ways this season and even when we're behind we never believe that we're down and out.

There are some really strong characters in the team in Will Creekmore, Alex Owumi, Zaire Taylor and Jamal Williams who want to win, will go that extra degree and never give up. It was a workman-like performance and long may that continue.

Teams still have games in hand on us but having the points on the board is also important. Tomorrow's matches are massive with Leicester playing Newcastle away and London going to Sheffield.

I am going to be watching those games very eagerly. Right now I'm not too concerned with who wins and who loses because someone's going to drop points and we've got points on the board so we're sitting pretty right now.

This weekend we take a break from the league and visit London Lions in the BBL Trophy on Sunday (4.30pm).

Everybody came through last Friday's match unscathed and we've had another hard week of practice which has been really good.
