VICTORY against Sheffield Sharks should give us the confidence for the remainder of the season.

It was the perfect response to the defeat at Glasgow Rocks and I was delighted with the way we played both offensively and defensively last weekend.

We showed a bit of fight and commitment and competed on every level, whereas we didn’t the week before.

Everybody got involved and once we started moving the ball, we got easy looks at the basket.

A few players had a healthy points tally, with Robert Thurman and Chavis Holmes registering 22 points each, and I thought we did a great job in keeping Sheffield down to under 70 points.

Sheffield don’t score a lot of points but they rely on rebounding the ball well offensively.

There were a lot of rebounds there to be had and Robert did a good job with that but collectively we did a great job too, with 50-odd rebounds for the game.

That’s the sort of work ethic we need as a unit if we’re going to win these kind of games.

Hopefully it’s a step in the right direction because a lot of our games have been close. We still had a little lapse when they got back to 15 points but we did a good job in making that a shorter period than before and it was a comfortable win.

It was also fantastic to hear that the game was going to be delayed by 10 minutes because there were a queue of people outside trying to get in.

That’s something we want game in, game out if possible and once that’s happening all we have to do as a team is make sure we put on a performance.

We went a long way to doing that against Sheffield. I thought we played really well and the crowd got into it so hopefully they will be back to see another one, starting against Plymouth Raiders tomorrow (7.30pm).

This week we announced the signing of Lithuanian guard Robertas Binitas and I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing how he develops over the next nine games of the regular season.

It’s very difficult for a player to come in at this late stage of the season and blend into the Wolves team but that’s something we’re going to have to try to do very quickly with Binitas.

With Disraeli Lufadeju looking like he’s going to be out for the rest of Worcester’s season, it’s good to have another guard in there with a different dimension so I’ll be able to play around with the line-ups a bit just to see where we’re going to fit him in.

He’ll give us a different aspect to the game moving forward.

We have got good contacts in Lithuania and our reputation there is good as well. It’s a fantastic link and long may that continue.
