THE last few weeks have been crucial in the context of the season for Worcester Wolves.

There have been tricky games we could have slipped up in so I am delighted with the way we have come through them – we have played well but also had to grind out results at times.

We go into tonight’s match against Glasgow Rocks at the University of Worcester looking to make it six wins in a row.

But nothing is guaranteed, whether you are playing Newcastle Eagles or Mersey Tigers, and, if you are not well prepared, you can get beaten.

We don’t take anybody lightly and that certainly applies to Glasgow.

They still have a chance of finishing in the top four so it’s a game we need to be focused on because they have a lot of threats.

Following the match, we have a two-week break before we host Sheffield Sharks on Saturday, March 24.

It will be a nice rest from the league although some of the players will be involved at the British Universities and Colleges Sports finals a week tomorrow after winning the Premier North Division.

I will give the squad a few days off so they can come back for the final seven British Basketball League games with a lot of energy and commitment.

However, we are not going to ease up on the training. The harder I push them, the better they respond so there will be no let-up.

Our first game back is against Sheffield and they have been our bogey team this year as we haven’t beaten them.

That said, they have been close games and, had we won them, we could have been in the mix for the championship.

But we are in a fantastic position and there is a real belief that we can win games.

The players have worked hard for their success and they get on with each other. When we play well, it’s a tough night for the other team.

We welcome back Carlos Fernandez for the Rocks game but his absence against Guildford Heat last Sunday gave the likes of Callum Jones, David Watts, Aleksas Zimnickas and Courtney Van-Beest an opportunity.

I have been trying to get them into games off the bench so they realise how important they are to the team effort.

At times, it hasn’t gone their way this season but against Guildford they showed what they can do.
