THERE is plenty at stake when Worcester Wolves return to British Basketball League action this weekend.

In our second double-header this month, we host Sheffield Sharks tonight before travelling to Cheshire Jets tomorrow.

We have won six BBL games in a row, which is a good run of form.

Although we have ridden our luck on occasions, we have also played very well at times so there’s no reason why we can’t continue that this weekend.

Against Sharks, there is the added incentive of victory guaranteeing us a top-four finish as a worst-case scenario, which would be a fantastic achievement for the players and the club.

Yet, should we achieve that, we will forget about it straight away and move on to Cheshire.

Jets are a very good team, who perhaps haven’t had the results they deserve, and are solid so we will have to play well to beat them.

We are trying to get better every time we play so every match is important.

We just want to go out there and win the next game.

Although it has been two weeks since the last BBL game against Glasgow Rocks, eight of the 11 players in the squad were involved in the British Universities and Colleges Sport title success in Sheffield, including Sherrad Prezzie-Blue and Arnas Kazlauskas.

That has given them a lot of confidence for this double-header because they beat a very good Durham side in the final.

It is important to keep the winning habit going because it breeds confidence throughout the team. We don’t want to get into a losing habit at this stage of the campaign.

The players had Monday off but were back in on Tuesday to prepare for these next two games and it has been a really good week of practice.

It’s a very exciting time of the year with seven games left and everybody is fit and healthy.

However, if there are a few aches and pains, the adrenaline will keep them going.

It will also be good to get back out on court at the University of Worcester in front of our own fans.

Their support has been great this season and they really have contributed to our success. They are our sixth man, if you like.

It’s great to play at home and the fans get behind the team in every game.
