WORCESTER Wolves maintained their challenge for British Basketball League honours with a thrilling one-point, 71-70, victory over Surrey United at the University of Worcester Arena.

The win means they now have the same number of points as leaders Newcastle Eagles but have played two matches more.

There was never more than a handful of points separating Wolves and United throughout the game but, in the key fourth quarter, it was always Worcester who had the edge.

Alex Owumi led Wolves from the front and finished the match with 20 points, closely followed by Chavis Holmes with 19 and Robert Thurman on 13.
