WORCESTER Wolves survived an almighty scare at Manchester Giants as they came from behind to snatch a 79-74 victory.

With the hosts languishing at the foot of the BBL table, play-off contenders Wolves were expected to run out comfortable winners.

But Giants were no pushovers as they scored 11 unanswered points to lead 50-44 at the start of the third quarter.

With Ingus Bankevics and Callum Jones, who scored 47 points between them, on top form, Giants had the visitors worried as they remained in front.

The score was tied at 70-70 with less than two minutes left before Ashton Khan stepped up with five points and Javier Mugica showed nerves of steel to land two free throws to give Worcester a seven-point cushion.

Bankevics and Jones closed the gap to 77-74 but, with just five seconds left, Perris Blackwell fired in a two-pointer to secure victory.

Jay Couisnard top scored with 21 points for Wolves, while Blackwell finished with 19 and Khan also got into double figures.

Forward Ben Eaves returned after two months out with a thumb injury.
