POWERHOUSE forward Mike Williams insists there’s more pressure on Bristol than Worcester Warriors heading into Wednesday’s Premiership shoot-out at Sixways (7.45pm).

Williams says Warriors can take plenty of confidence from their 29-28 win against Bristol at Ashton Gate in the Championship play-off final first leg.

The sell-out second leg will be Williams’ final match for Warriors before he departs for Leicester.

“The pressure surrounding the game is massive and probably more so for Bristol because I think they have more to prove as a club,” said the 23-year-old.

“We are enjoying the challenge and are confident from how we played last week. We have to treat it as just another match, stay calm and play the game we know we can. We know the job in hand and I am sure we will be able to get it done.”

The Zimbabwe-born forward marked his 50th Warriors appearance in the first leg and his sole try this term was in the opening match of the campaign at Bristol.

“I think we always knew leading into the competition that it would be us and Bristol in the final, especially the way in which they recruited and the way they played last season,” he said.

“It’s only halfway in the final and it’s another huge game on Wednesday.”

Replacement hooker Niall Annett’s last-gasp try and Ryan Lamb’s conversion gave Warriors a one-point advantage.

“It was an awesome win, especially away from home,” said Williams. “The energy provided by the replacements gave us the little boost we needed.

“Leo Senatore won the ball in the line-out and then nine phases later we were able to score for a massive confidence boost. One point doesn’t really mean anything but it’s nice to know we left Bristol having won the game.”

Powerful ball carrier Williams was involved in the incident when Bristol centre Gavin Henson suffered a broken shin. His leg appeared to get trapped in the turf as Williams made a tackle.

“Rugby can be brutal at times. I just hope he’s OK and back in action soon,” said Williams.
