FORMER South Africa international Wynand Olivier has committed his future to Worcester Warriors after signing a new contract at Sixways.

The 2007 Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok joined from French Top 14 side Montpellier in October and has proved an impressive addition to the Warriors backline.

The centre has become a first-team regular this campaign, making nine appearances and notching his first Aviva Premiership try in December against Leicester Tigers.

Olivier, 32, has represented South Africa 38 times with his last appearance in June 2014 in a win over Wales, while he has also played for the Barbarians.

Director of rugby Dean Ryan said: “Wynand has brought some real strength to our midfield and we’re delighted he’s signed a new deal.

“We’ve been really impressed with his efforts and his experience is invaluable to our young squad.”

Olivier added: “I’ve really enjoyed my first few months at Warriors with everybody helping me fit in.

“There is a great culture at the club and all the foundations are in place for us to kick on and become a successful Premiership side so I’m looking forward to the future.”
