SOUTH African centre Wynand Olivier has vowed to use all his experience to keep Worcester Warriors in the Premiership.

Olivier, who has signed a new deal at Sixways, believes third-from-bottom Warriors are “at a tipping point” and “need that little nudge over the edge” to pick up crucial wins.

He has played 38 times for his country and has made nine appearances in a Warriors shirt since arriving from Montpellier in October.

“We are at a tipping point and need that little nudge over the edge to get us to control and seal off games towards the end and maybe pull off a couple of wins,” said the 32-year-old.

“We try to build on what we do and to improve. Hopefully, we can put it all together and give ourselves and our fans a good result.”

Warriors are preparing for their biggest match of the season so far at bottom side London Irish on Sunday (1pm).

And the South African admits Warriors have learnt from their lack of execution in last weekend’s 30-15 defeat to Exeter Chiefs.

With the score at 15-15 midway through the second half, Warriors squandered an overlap when Tom Heathcote failed to find Cooper Vuna with a try-scoring pass.

“What has happened has happened — it was one of those things,” said Olivier.

“Perhaps we could have made a better decision and maybe a better pass but there’s no such thing as a wrong decision. We just have to back it.

“We need to fine-tune the small things like just getting the pass away a little bit earlier or throwing a little bit deeper.

“There was an overlap and things could have been different but it wasn’t and we just have to work on it.”

Olivier has settled into Worcestershire life and had no hesitation in extending his stay at the club.

He added: “London Irish are a good side and they’ve been unlucky in a couple of games.

“But it’s going to be a big challenge for us and we will need to play for 80 minutes and try to seal off the game.

“It’s something to look forward to. Hopefully, we can gel and get a good result.

“I am excited, but I am excited about all the games. Hopefully, the conditions will be good and we can throw the ball around a bit and give it some air.”
