NEW Zealand Sevens player Jordan Simpson-Hefft marked his trial with a try for Worcester Cavaliers in a thumping 64-0 win against the Army.
Simpson-Hefft crossed for the final try in a crushing win for Warriors’ second string in a friendly at Sixways on Wednesday.
Speaking before the game, Warriors director of rugby Dean Ryan said the club were keen to give Simpson-Hefft an opportunity.
“The lad’s floating around and he wants a shot and so we will give him a shot,” said Ryan.
“We have done a bit of research on the lad and he’s played sevens in New Zealand and just missed the cuts so we will give him a ride.”
Ryan added: “We are not in the luxurious position where we can settle.
“We have always got to be looking and there’s always a different route a good footballer can come from.
“He can play a bit at 13 and across the back three.”
Rookie wing Perry Humphreys stole the show with four touchdowns, while Mat Gilbert and Charlie Mulchrone also crossed in the 10-try rout. Fly-half Tiff Eden converted a penalty try in a 14-point haul.
