EXPLOSIVE wing Bryce Heem is eyeing up a return to the international fold with Pacific islanders Samoa.

The 27-year-old say he’s focused on his role with Worcester Warriors but would be open to representing his dad’s country of birth.

Heem was an influential member of the New Zealand Sevens team between 2011 and 2014.

The Auckland-born flyer starred on the Sevens World Series circuit and won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Warriors team-mate James Johnston has been named in Samoa’s squad for Test matches next month against Georgia, Fiji and Tonga.

And fellow Worcester wing Cooper Vuna, who has represented Australia, is hoping to switch allegiances and play Sevens for Tonga in a qualifying competition for the Olympic Games next month.

“I would like to (get back on to the international scene),” said Heem, who grabbed seven tries in 18 appearances for Warriors in his maiden season in the Aviva Premiership.

“I have got some Samoan blood in me because my dad is Samoan.

“If I could, I could probably go down that track and try to play through the Sevens loophole for Samoa and try to get on the 15-a-side team as well.

“At the moment, I am enjoying my rugby and I am just focusing on Worcester at the moment.”

Before arriving at Sixways last autumn, Heem was also a key member of the Chiefs squad who reached the semi-finals of the Super 15 and also helped Auckland to the final of the ITM Cup.

Heem admitted: “For New Zealand, they only pick within New Zealand so that pretty much counts me out from Sevens, Olympics or All Blacks,” he said.

Meanwhile, tighthead prop Johnston is likely to come up against Warriors team-mate Jaba Bregvadze, a hooker with Six Nations B Grand Slam champions Georgia.

Johnston, 30, might also face Warriors' Fijian lock Tevita Cavubati.

However, Cavubati was ruled out of Warriors' final match of the season against Saracens with a hamstring problem.

Johnston has won 14 international caps for Samoa, bagging a try against Japan on his debut in 2008.

Samoa are going through a re-building phase and their immediate focus is to secure qualification for 2019 World Cup.
