FORMER Worcester Warriors centre Andy Symons has snubbed relegated London Irish, according to a statement on the Championship club’s website.

Symons turned down a new contract at Warriors earlier this year in favour of a summer switch to Irish to link up with his older brother Matt.

However, Irish were relegated to the second tier of English rugby and Symons will not be taking up his two-year deal at the club.

Symons "has decided to pursue his career elsewhere", according to Irish.

He is not believed to be coming back to Sixways.

A short statement on Irish’s website says: “London Irish confirmed today that Andy Symons will not now be joining the club for pre-season training as he has decided to pursue his career elsewhere.”

Symons, who turns 25 later this month, finished the season in superb form for Warriors as they came 10th on their return to the Aviva Premiership.

The centre was outstanding at the tail end of the campaign, scoring tries against Exeter Chiefs, Wasps, Leicester Tigers and Saracens as he ended his Warriors career on a high.

Symons played 51 first-team matches for Warriors, totalling 183 points, after joining from New Zealand outfit Tasman Makos in November 2013.

Earlier this year, Warriors chief Dean Ryan explained Symons' decision to reject a new deal at Sixways.

"With the likes of centres Ben Te'o and Jackson Willison coming in, Andy has made the decision to move to Irish," said Ryan.

According to sources, Symons' new destination could be revealed as soon as tomorrow.
